HBC relies on the participation of families, communities, and health facilities. Reduce stigma and discrimination against PLWHA. Prevent the further spread of HIV. Mobilize community resources for PLWHA and their families.

Home Based Care is important to PLWHA because it:

- Help them stay healthier longer.
- Lets them get care at home.
- Allows them to participate in and contribute to family life.
- Keeps them as part of their community
- Makes it easier for them to accept they are HIV+
- Helps them improve their emotional health and keep a positive attitude.
- Enables them to help others prevent new HIV infections.
- Supports them in taking their ARVs correctly
